You have such a powerful role in a child’s life. I’m reminded of the quote by, Stan Lee: “With great power, comes great responsibility.” As an educator, you have a responsibility to provide each child that enters your classroom the opportunity to leave a better thinker, a better questioner, a better person, a better leader.
Yes, leader. Today’s children are the leaders of tomorrow. Actually, many are the leaders of today! Our words and our actions shape their future. It also shapes our future. So, it’s important to ask, “Are you shaping this future – your business’s future – by default or design?”
Hi, I’m Julie Smith, MHS. I’m a Leadership Mentor and Family Coach. I’m also a parent, business owner and educator.
Educators come in all shapes and sizes: teachers, coaches (life & sports), business owners, counselors, administrators, librarians, homeschoolers, ministry leaders, social workers, and more. As educators, we have to ask ourselves what we are doing to support today’s youth.
The young people that we sending into the world are unprepared. Even those that excel in academics are struggling in the “real world.” Why? Academic intelligence only accounts for 20% of one’s success. So, what’s constitutes the other 80%?
I sat down with educators, parents and business leaders, like you, to find out exactly what children need to thrive in this world. They agreed that we all need a foundation that serves as an emotional, social and moral compass. They need a foundation of lifestyle and leadership habits that include…
- Responsibility, integrity and accountability
- Courage and respect
- Self-direction, self-discipline and self-management
- Confident presence
- Creativity, initiative and problem-solving
- Teamwork, perseverance and adaptability
- A spirit of kindness, service and gratitude
THIS is the 80% that strengthens their foundation. This is the 80% that shapes their future. This is the 80% that shapes our future.
Based on this 80%, I have developed a series of fun programs and cool products centered around five core habits of character – Gratitude, Responsibility, Integrity, Synergy, and Service – that address essential life skills and fundamental leadership ability.
So, what does that mean to you? Lots! I absolutely love partnering with like-minded businesses, such as yours, to implement practices that help develop character, confidence and connection within. I ofen work with educators, youth clubs, church and other family/child-centered professionals to implement fun, fresh and easy approaches to empower and connect with young people.
Working with five core habits of character, we will blend simple techniques and strategies into the incredible work you are already doing to ignite initiative and problem-solving, strengthen morale and motivation, boost self-direction and self-esteem, and cultivate a strong sense of community.
To do that, I offer many unique and effective opportunities for businesses to shape the future, such as:
- Training and certification of Character Coaches / Character Clubs facilitators.
- On-site parenting, family and motivational workshops.
- Assemblies and workshops for children, parents and professionals.
- Custom training and teambuilding workshops to better engage today’s youth.
- Hosting/co-hosting special events including expos, community fairs and more.
- Leadership mentoring, personalized coaching, consultation and evaluation services.
- Co-create custom program and curriculum for your group.
- Emotional Intelligence assessments.
As parents, educators, and, yes, as businesses, we must be vigilant about developing and strengthening character, confidence and connection in both children and ourselves. To determine how we can shape that future by design, please contact me.
With gratitude,
